What is Fabric Canvas?
Fabric’s canvas is a spatial whiteboard where you can add any Fabric content, organize it, draw around it, write, add post-its and more.
You can even paste, drag or embed content directly to the canvas.
If you paste a link, it’ll turn into a Fabric bookmark that lives inside the canvas.
Can I add the same file to multiple canvases?
Yes, you can reference any file from your library on as many different canvases as you want - it’s the same file shown in different visual layouts.
What’s the difference between embedded content and referenced content?
Embedded content (like images you upload directly) lives on the canvas itself. Referenced content links to files in your library - if you delete the library file, it disappears from the canvas too.
What’s the difference between preview cards and interactive windows?
Preview cards show a thumbnail of your file, while interactive windows let you actually work with the content (read PDFs, play videos, etc.) without leaving the canvas.

Can collaborators see all the content on my canvas?
If you reference library content as a preview, collaborators can only access it if they have permission to view that file. Embedded content is visible to everyone who can access the canvas.
Can I draw on the canvas?
Yes, you can draw freeform, add shapes, arrows, and annotations directly on the canvas.
Do embedded videos and live content actually work on the canvas?
Yes, all embeds are fully interactive - you can watch YouTube videos, edit Figma designs, play Spotify, and interact with any embedded content directly on the canvas.
Can I share a canvas as read-only?
Yes, share canvases with view-only access so others can see your work but can’t edit or move anything.
Can I organize my canvases into folders?
Yes, canvases are files in Fabric - organize them in folders, tag them, and find them through search like any other content.
How many people can collaborate on a canvas at once?
Multiple team members can work on the same canvas simultaneously with real-time multiplayer cursors showing everyone’s activity.
Does canvas work on mobile?
Canvas works best on desktop and tablet devices where you have more screen space for visual organization.
